Spilling the Tea in Consulting

Spilling the Tea in Consulting

The UNM Consulting Club, which is the University of Nottingham Malaysia’s newest club, kick-started its activities by hosting a “Spilling The Tea in Consulting” session on 1 April 2021. This online event was in collaboration with 180Degrees Consulting KL and supported by the Alumni and Donor Relations Office of UNM. During this session, the members discussed the ins and out of the consulting career and what it takes to start your own consulting career with UNM alumni Joshua Lee (BEng (Hons) in Mechatronic Engineering, 2010) who is currently a Director (Consulting) at EY, Shahzaib Imran (BEng (Hons) in Electrical, Electronic and Communications Engineering, 2013), a Manager (Strategy & Operations Consulting) at KPMG and Nicholas Han (BSc (Hons) in Economics, 2018), an SAP Analyst at Deloitte Consulting. The participants hailed from different universities across Malaysia and listened keenly to all the tips and advice shared during the first half of the session. The second half comprised a networking session in which participants were given the opportunity to personally ask questions regarding a career in consulting as well as to clear up any doubts they may have had. The event was received positively which was reflected in the feedback* received from the participants: “Great informative sessions and perhaps having a newsletter on consultants they can reach out to during hiring periods to network better and increase the chances in landing a role (e.g full time or internships)” “Thumbs up to the facilitators in the Networking room :)” “Just wanted to say that you guys invited a very good set of speakers so well done on that! Was very happy that I came across this event so keep doing what you're doing ya! All the best :)” *All feedback received was anonymous.
